I  M  A  G  E  R  Y

THE IMAGE ABOVE (CLICK TO ENLARGE) PERFECTLY REPRESENTS WHAT I EXPRESS BELOW. IT'S NOT FLASHY, NOT COLORFUL, NOT DRAMATIC. THE ORIGINAL HIGH RES IMAGE IS NICE ENOUGH LOOKING - BUT TO MANY... WOULD BE NOTHING SPECIAL. WITH AN OVERCAST WASHED OUT SKY, THE IMAGE REALISTICALLY REPRESENTS THE SCENE AT THAT MOMENT.

MY OTHER IMAGES DO THE SAME.

1) The laws of nature lights and paints the scene, to a greater - or lesser - degree. From that perspective... I'm not the artist, not the painter. I'm simply the photographer who captured a digital image of Art already created. A camera CAN definitely be used to alter the image during capture using settings & techniques and then subsequent processing of the image - and I can appreciate the resulting 'Art' produced in this way - but in my case I am using the camera to capture as closely as possible the Art already there. When an image goes to print - that's when I can think of the images I've taken as becoming a form of modern 'Art'.

2) All photos are captured in the camera's RAW format and then processed with the above in mind. I correct using a lens module for optical distortions, aberrations, vignetting, sharpness and - if needed - I'll edit for white balance and exposure/dynamic range. That's it. No 'filters'. No 'presets'. No sky replacements, no moon enlargements, no object removal/erasing, cloning, etc. No intentional sunstars - nor intentional long exposure motion blur (of waterfalls, streams, etc) - simply for added effect.

None of my images are taken with a drone.

3) The Imagery is exclusively scenes of the natural world with a focus on the Wilderness and all that's presented through it. By "Wilderness", I mean not only officially designated Wilderness Areas, but any wild landscape scene that does not readily show disturbance by man. As cool as an old barn is and as much as I like it, you won't find it here. If possible I will even avoid an image with a plane's contrail.

4) Regarding identifying the exact location or geotagging photos with GPS coordinates: I'll identify some images, but sharing specific location info of every scenic photo simply for the sake of followers, likes, publicity, or leaving an online mark of everywhere I've been, well it's... just not me - Jay Morrell
